The Pagosa Springs area boosts some of the finest recreational opportunities available anywhere in the world. Many of the residents of the area cite access to recreation as one of the prime reasons for choosing to live here, where outdoor recreation is truly a year-round activity. Recreation is also a main component of Pagosa's thriving tourism industry.

Winter time recreation attractions center around: downhill skiing and snowboarding at the local Wolf Creek Ski Area, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing on numerous area trails, ice skating in a town park beside the San Juan River, ice fishing in area lakes, and family sledding trips to various sledding hills around town.

As the snow melts in the Spring, the San Juan River and other nearby rivers swell with run-off and attract rafting and kayaking enthusiasts. The recreational boating scene starts up at Navajo Lake and other local lakes, and fishermen appear on the shore of lakes and rivers. Hiking trails from easy to challenging begin to thaw, drawing mountain bikers and hikers into the wilderness, and horseback rides are offered by local outfitters. Campers begin to use the area's numerous campgrounds, and the town's 27-hole golf course opens for the season.

In the Fall, hunters from around the country arrive in the Pagosa area to hunt deer and elk. The recreational outdoors continues to attract visitors late into October, as the first dustings of snow hit the mountains and the skiers and Snowboarders begin waxing up for another round of recreational fun. And, of course, all with world class accommodations and great restaurants! We can arrange a package or activity for you!
